
A Scottish air by . . . Ludwig von Beethoven? Dear Reader may be forgiven for supposing that someone has lost his marbles.
In fact, it turns out that Beethoven was a lover of the folk genre, and took his own stabs at over 160 popular ditties over the years.

Dramatically, it is a sad tale of love spurned, lost, and lamented. Musically, it is simple but compelling, and bonny as bonny can be!
