The ignorant man clings to the dust until he becomes dust; the wise and prudent man clings to heaven until he reaches heaven. The place where you hang on, you will belong to it.
Saint Charbel Makhlouf (source)

One should not follow those who advise us to think human thoughts, since we are human, and mortal thoughts, since we are mortal, but as far as possible one ought to be immortal and to do all things with a view toward living in accord with the most powerful thing within oneself.
Aristotle, Nicomachean ethics, book ten, chapter 7

But as many as received him, he gave them power to be made the sons of God, to them that believe in his name.
john 1:13

Wonderful quotes and paintings, Clovis Minor! I’m reminded of the hobby craft work I do. I’ve learned that I must rely on tools and not always on my senses; my eyes deceive me but a ruler never does. The world can deceive us but heaven never does.

Beautiful Jerry! I know from my own lack thereof that craftsmanship requires a patient persistence of the soul in cooperative submission to things as they are. It never ceases to amaze me what human beings can accomplish when they achieve this union between personal potential and what is.
